On the Erection Hardness Score, also called the EHS, it comprises 5 different grades, based on the following self-assessments:
0 – Penis does not enlarge.
1 – Penis is larger, but not hard.
2 – Penis is hard, but not hard enough for penetration.
3 – Penis is hard enough for penetration, but not completely hard.
4 – Penis is completely hard and fully rigid.
Any grade less than a 4 means you’re having a problem with your manhood.
Or, if you like, you can use the steak doneness test, where “well done” equals completely hard and fully rigid, and “medium rare” is the opposite end.
Whichever method you use, you’ll know when you’re not getting the optimal hardness for pleasure. This is called Erectile Dysfunction (ED). ED as a medical condition can be comprehensively defined as a persistent difficulty in getting an erection, having problems in maintaining an erection with or without an overall reduced sexual desire.
WHAT'S THE ROOT OF YOUR PROBLEM?
The most important distinction to make is whether one is suffering from a physical or psychological problem. This is simply because the solution to the problem depends very much on the root cause.
Many men believe that sexual performance is the most defining and important characteristic of every sexual experience. But many men do not understand and accept the fact that their hardness can vary with every sexual experience.
And while ED is strongly linked to performance anxiety, more often, there is a biological problem at the root cause which requires medical attention. Such as…
Syndrome X, a collection of diseases with a common symptom of metabolism decline, is your new enemy as you get older. It can cause weight gain, heart problems and of course, what we care most about - erectile deficiency (ED)
This is the male version of menopause – or as we like to call it ‘manopause’. It is what happens when your gonads can no longer produce testosterone levels that are equal to the heights of your younger days, and it’ll start to kick in when you get into your 30s.
If you are experiencing a flagging libido or cannot sustain or achieve an erection, you should consult a doctor who will be able to advise you on the root causes and possible treatments.
YOU CAN GET HELP -
Oral medication known as PDE-5 inhibitors is usually the first line of treatment for ED, working by increasing blood flow to the penis when stimulated.
There are also other more invasive treatment options such as intracavernosal injections, a form of self-injection therapy by patients. This involves injecting medication into the male organ or a less invasive form, using pellets or a gel known as trans-urethral agents through the urine channel.
Another method using an external device placed onto the male organ can be used to create a very good erection as and when needed. These injectables or urethrally applied chemicals and the external suction device pull blood into the penis to maintain an erection for intercourse.
Surgery is also another option that doctors may recommend, depending on the severity of the patient’s condition.
ADOPT LIFESTYLE CHANGES
Besides medical attention, ED patients can also look at making some positive lifestyle changes to improve their situation.
One word: Exercise. More words: Exercise lots.
Yes, pump those muscles and push your heart to the point of sweat-soaked no-return. Exercise can give your body much needed stress relief by releasing feel-good sexy endorphins and increase testosterone production.
Then come home and give your wife a work out of her own in the bedroom for double the pleasure.
We’re only going to get older and have ever more declining metabolic rates. Hence Syndrome X and all its pals are always going to be around, and get chummier with you. You’ll want to cut back on red meats, fried foods and alcohol abuse.
You should also get sufficient sleep, plus eliminate all tobacco products and limit alcohol intake.
As for those with performance anxiety, reducing stress and learning effective means of relaxation – such as warm baths and massages – can assist greatly in combating their condition.
Most importantly, know that ED is not a condition that can be overcome overnight.
In the meantime, treatment options are widely available which can allow you to achieve the healthy sexual relationships you desire. Until then, remain positive and keep up the self-motivated lifestyle changes you initiated.
It’ll only get harder as you go along. And for once, that’s a good thing!
