How to compare peptide supplier quotes.
A lower number matters only when product, order route, quantity, shipping and records match. This is the checklist clinics use to make two quotes genuinely comparable - and to spot the quote that only looks cheaper.

Match the product exactly.
Most 'cheaper' peptide quotes are cheaper because something in the product line changed. Lock these four fields before any price talk: ingredient (semaglutide base is not semaglutide sodium or semaglutide acetate - salt forms FDA says are different active ingredients with no lawful compounding basis - and semaglutide alone is not a semaglutide-plus-additive blend; each is a different product), strength (total milligrams per vial or kit, plus concentration in mg/mL: price per mg compares only when the total milligrams are stated, and concentration sets the injection volume per dose), presentation (lyophilized powder versus prepared injectable solution - they differ in storage, shelf life, and who performs reconstitution), and unit quantity (per vial, per kit, per patient-month). A quote that is vague on any of the four is not a quote yet - it is an advertisement.
Step two
Keep the two order routes separate.
- Patient-specific pharmacy (503A)Dispensed against a valid prescription for a named patient - name and date of birth required on every order. Product ships in bulk to your facility grouped by patient, or direct to the patient. This is the only route for product that reaches a patient.
- Professional research supplyLyophilized material sold per bottle for professional and research use only. Never for human use, never for patient care. Priced per bottle with quantity breaks - a different product sold outside the drug-approval and pharmacy-compounding framework, not reviewed by FDA for safety or efficacy, and never a substitute for pharmacy fulfillment. 'Research use only' labeling states intended use; it does not create a regulatory exemption.
Comparing a 503A pharmacy quote against a research-supply quote is not a price comparison. It is a compliance failure waiting for an audit. Clinics that blur this line have faced license suspension; the margin is never worth it.
Step three
Compare landed cost, not list price.
- Shipping and temperatureHeat stability is product-specific. Lyophilized powders generally tolerate days at ambient temperature in transit; prepared solutions are more fragile and carry labeled storage ranges with defined excursion limits (Ozempic's label, for example, allows 56 days below 86 F once it leaves refrigeration). Degradation tracks time spent above the labeled range. Ask how the order ships, what temperature monitoring is included, what the labeled storage range and excursion limits are, and what happens when a shipment arrives warm. A supplier with no written shipping and temperature policy is telling you who they are.
- Minimums and feesOrder minimums, account fees, and per-patient processing charges belong in the comparison. Add them to the product price before you compare anything.
- DocumentationPharmacy route: pharmacy licensure covering your destination state, a valid patient-specific prescription for a named patient, and labeling with the patient's name, beyond-use date, and storage conditions; potency and sterility testing information should be available on request. Research route: a lot-specific, third-party certificate of analysis whose lot number matches the bottle. If documentation is "available on request" but never arrives, rule the supplier out - before price.
- Who actually fulfillsAsk who sells, who compounds or manufactures, who ships, and who invoices. Middlemen portals add a layer between you and the pharmacy; buying closer to the source usually removes a margin, not adds one.
Step four
Run the comparison.
Send both suppliers the same basket: same compounds, same strengths, same quantities, same destination. A serious supplier returns a like-for-like quote in writing.
